Wag the Dog

You can tell whether or not your faithful companion is paying attention to you or not by watching his (or her) tail. If your dog is facing you and his tail is wagging to your right, his left, he is paying attention to you. If the tail is wagging to your left, his right, he is not paying attention to you. If the tail is wagging to both the left and the right sides he is confused and is trying to pay attention to you but not able to.
Have your dog sit in front of you and speak to your dog, not saying his name, using your normal tone of voice. What side is his tail wagging to or on? Is he paying attention to you? Now have your dog sit in front of you, show him you have a treat, and say his name in a high pitch excited voice. Is there a difference with the tail? Is he paying attention to you?
Some dogs, depending on the owner, will always pay attention; however, some dogs will be occupied with other things around them. This is one way you can tell if your dog is paying attention to you or not.

  1. If her tail is long look at what side her tail is sitting on, your left or right? Get a treat and talk to her in an excited voice after she sees the treat... see if that works.
